Joe is going to cover a quick background on the SEC, current topics pending and anticipated upcoming topics before the SEC. Additionally, Joe is going to cover the current status on the climate change initiatives.

  1. Learn about SEC requirements concerning disclosure statements on company financial statements as it relates to climate change initiatives.

  2. Learn about how the numerous Biden SEC regulations have impacted the stock markets and investors.

SESSION #3 10:20 TO 11:10 AM – JANIS PARTHUN "REGULATORY DEVELOPMENTS AND ACCOUNTING UPDATE"

This session will include a technical accounting update, highlighting developments by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and standard setting bodies.  The highlights will include SEC and FASB’s priorities, as well as diving deeper to proposed rules and standards and recent updates. Specific topics will also include the cybersecurity disclosure rule, climate disclosure rule, segment reporting, and more.

SESSION #4 11:20 AM TO 12:10 PM – STEVE M. WYETT "THE LONG SHADOW OF THE PANDEMIC"

In this presentation we will discuss the policy response to the pandemic from the Fed and Congress. We will talk about the impacts of the actions they took and how it may be the pandemic is this generation’s “Great Depression”. The reality is COVID-19 changed everything. It took what was important and made it less important and what was less important and made it more important. It has redefined what work is and what it is worth to us. We will also talk about the impact of “Big Fiscal” and the choices we have going forward.

SESSION #5 1:10 TO 2:00 PM – DR. SHANNON MCMURTREY "MISSOURI CYBERSECURITY CENTER OF EXCELLENCE (MCCOE): INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW”

There has long existed a tremendous gap between the number of Cybersecurity job openings available at any given time, and the number of trained professionals ready to fill them. This presentation will examine some of the reasons why that gap exists and explore new strategies for closing the gap.

  1. Understand the challenges presented by the current cybersecurity professionals gap, and the risks that it introduces to your organization.

  2. Better understand the key challenges involved in closing this gap.

SESSION #8 2:10 TO 3:00 PM “C” – AL MARCIANTE "ORACLE FUSION CLOUD EPM: REVOLUTIONIZING PLANNING WITH MACHINE LEARNING, PREDICTION AND IPM INSIGHTS"

SESSION #9 3:10 TO 4:00 PM – PETE PHILIPPI "THREE PERSPECTIVES OF COACHING"

A person's leadership perspective is built from three vantage points; experience IN any given role, observing OF another in a role, and coaching someone THROUGH development within the role. Understanding the value and pitfalls of each of these perspectives can help a leader speak to those they lead in a more effective manner.

SESSION #10 4:10 TO 5:00 PM – JEANETTE STANTON & AMANDA ROBERTS "IT ALL ADDS UP: OPPORTUNITIES FOR CPAs & ACCOUNTANTS IN OKLAHOMA'S FILM INDUSTRY"

The film and television industry is a unique business in that almost every traditional trade imaginable plays a vital role in the production process - including CPAs and accountants. With the success of the state’s film incentive program in attracting productions such as “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Reservation Dogs,” “Tulsa King,” and “Twisters” to Oklahoma, the need for local CPAS and accountants working in the film sector has never been greater. In this session led by Oklahoma Film + Music Office Director Jeanette Stanton and Incentives Specialist Amanda Roberts, attendees are invited to learn more about the impact of film and television in Oklahoma and the associated career and business opportunities for local CPAs and accountants within this sector.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Understanding of the mission of the Oklahoma Film + Music Office and the function of the state’s film incentive program in creating career and business opportunities for CPAs and accountants through film and television.

  2. Understanding the unique role CPAs and accountants play in the budgeting/auditing process as required for productions utilizing Oklahoma’s film incentive program.

  3. Understanding some of the similarities & differences in film budgeting and accounting versus other industries.

SESSION #11 8:10 TO 9:00 AM – MADISON MARSH "LATER IS TOO LATE"

Witnessing my mother's passing profoundly reshaped my understanding of time and its precious value. Navigating the grieving process transformed my tragedy into a beacon of hope. This journey of resilience and renewal has now propelled me towards the Miss America stage, where I embrace the future with unwavering determination.

SESSION #12 9:15 TO 10:05 AM – MARY SPEARS "ACCOUNTING FOR THE ONEOK/MAGELLAN ACQUISITION"

An overview of the timeline of the ONEOK/Magellan transaction, from deal announcement through filing the Annual Report on Form 10-K after the transaction close.  The presentation will include a summary of accounting for a transaction under Accounting Standards Codification 805 “Business Combinations” and a discussion of the ONEOK accounting and disclosures.  Mary will also discuss the challenges and opportunities the transaction presented for the accounting department.

  2. To understand the accounting for a large acquisition under ASC 805 and related disclosures.

  3. To understand the various accounting groups involved in ONEOK’s acquisition of Magellan.

Our session will explore the fundamental principles of ethical decision-making, discuss the challenges of corporate social responsibility in today's climate, and examine emerging ethical challenges that organizations face. The session will also include practical strategies to navigate these complex issues while maintaining personal integrity and fostering a strong ethical culture.

The era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is here.  How your organization learns, adopts, and adapts will set the stage for long-term success or potentially falling behind others.  This session will help you understand important considerations you need to take as you either start your AI journey or work to accelerate it.  We will discuss overall organizational and technology considerations, how to take the first steps with artificial intelligence, how to make sure your organization comes along successfully on the journey, and how to make sure you are getting the business value from the investment.
